a 300 pair of jeans? branded as rebellion?
thats a dichotomy, with licence, not reading the Oxford dictionary. Its called genius, thunder, or luck. The success of the branding is evident in the results. He is not selling to rebels. He is selling to yuppies who want to look like or be rebels.

I know who the lemmings are who will shell out 300 bucks. But they dont get it do they.
who was it, Edward Bernays, the founder of public relations, he was the guy who identified this all.
Rock and Republic is about getting lucky filling a niche in the high end dep't stores in Manhattan, and getting a good distribution model. Then buying media in GQ and Vogue.
Not that simple. But once they had the niche filled in those stores and the product moved, they had a business.
I would expect Ball's expansion into hotels, cosmetics, sunglasses will end badly, like Paris Hilton's nightclubs. There is only so far that brand will go. Atleast the Italian an d French fashion designers had many years before they branched out into out earning lines to entrench their core operations and brand.
I mean, 200 bucks for a pair of sunglasses, and Ball is walking around in a sports zip sweater with "Big Daddy" written on it. Certainly they will not have guys in advertising in Manhattan buying their jeans, and when they have to rely on the guys who are lawyers and wall street bankers to buy their product it will be so diluted. Only so far you can go with buying media in GQ/Vogue.

well, Creed capital C and small c are different, That parsing of language sounds suspiciously like the denial of a latte swilling, Birkenstock wearing, Nickelback haired Creed fan. ;)

thanks Bro, you got me in one.
btw, I think the Birkenstock owners are descended from a line of Nazi's
:D
<smile is about the left-wing propaganda that humours Bro, but I have heard this, which is ironic, as it is a bit of a hippy niche product>

I know who the lemmings are who will shell out 300 bucks. But they dont get it do they.Don't get what? The money ($300) doesn't mean much to them. Looking affluent and cool in the nightclubs and impressing chicks means heaps to them. Why are they idiots? If they aren't impressing anyone or helping themselves get chicks then they're idiots. But I think they will impress some people. The sort of people who are impressed by bling and are prone to one night stands, sure, but that's who they're trying to impress anyway.

If you buy the music of Creed then you are not a rebel. You have to buy Nickelback to be a rebel.
Some people say that today's rock music leads to violence, and I agree. Because when I hear Nickelback, I want to kill ... Nickelback.

Seems that all we know about Ball in the cycling world is what he said about himself in his R&R biography, “In the late ‘80s, Michael was considered one of the fastest, smartest and most aggressive cyclists on the circuit. The avid athlete had discovered he had the stamina to succeed at any task he took on. Michael won the LA Tri-Sprint Series and then went on to the national track rankings where he conquered the Velodrome. However, an unfortunate racing crash forced him to put his racing aspirations on hold.”That's a bunch of bull! I don't think he ever got higher than a cat 3. All I ever remeber of him is seeing him ride around the Valley all decked out like a wannabe, at the blistering pace of 15mph. Congrats on the success on the clothing line. I just hate seing people take credit for what they never did.

Some people say that today's rock music leads to violence, and I agree. Because when I hear Nickelback, I want to kill ... Nickelback.Don't know what it is that impels me, but as a Canadian I feel the need to apologize every time I hear someone say anything about Nickelback. So, sorry about that.
Oh, and while we're at it, I'm really, really sorry for Celine Dion, too. Words cannot express. Sorry.
