Are there any disadvantages to using a short stem for general xc riding. I dont race but I enjoy riding. I have changed the original stem from 100mm to 90mm but I think maybe a 60mm would help to keep pressure of of my hands.

A 60mm stem is sometimes to sensitive for XC riding. To reduce the pressure on the hands (and lower back pain) it's better to use a raised stem (90mm 17° for exemple) or a raiser handle bar.
