When I bend down my knee makes a grating noise, has anyone experienced this? If so, is it okay to go
running or should I take a rest.

It doesn't hurt when I go up or down steps just feels a bit spongey?

I'm booked into a sports injury clinic but not for another week and I really want to get back
out there.

Many thanks

I used to experience this when I was younger. I don't mean to brag, but I used to run through some
pretty painfull injuries. The correct answer of course is wait until a professional has a look at
it. This is not like tearing a hole in the middle of your calf so pain may not be a good indicator
of the extent of the injury.

Take a look at the following: http://www.knee1.com/reference/faq10.cfm/25

It sounds as if there's a fair chance of it being normal but you're right to have it checked out.
