Kayano VIII or 2080?

View Full Version : Kayano VIII or 2080?

I can get the Kayano VIII for about the same as the 2080? Anyone tried both of these out? Which
would you pick? I hear the VIII's are not that well cushioned.

For a long shoe life, the Kayano. If you are heavy, the Kayano.

I found the 2080 felt lighter, more comfortable and softer underfoot, as if it were better cushioned
(though I don't believ e it is).

I am 133 Lb and a moderate overpronator. I've had 2030s, 2070s and an old Kayano V11. I liked all
three. I like the 2080 much better than the 2070 - mainly as I got hold of it in a 2E fit which is
great for me.

Can you not go to a store that lets you try both on and have a short test run? Even a few yards
would probably answer your question.

Happy shopping :)

I have tried all of these as well. At right about 200 lbs, I'm currently using the Kayano's, hoping
they'll hold up well.

Interesting. I liked the 70's better and the 2E have been around for a long time. I weight 175ish
and wear 13 EE. I have not tried any of the Kayano models - too much $$$$$.

What I just noticed, and a few others also noted, is I only got about 400 miles out of the 80's
while I got 500 from the 70's.

If you notice, that's last year's model, the VIII, which I can buy for $10 less than the 80's. You
may want to check into that too. I think I'm going to sneak out and buy a pair next week. If I do
I'll follow up.
