View Full Version : XTR wheel build
I 'm having some trouble with a wheel build in that I am not able to get proper spoke length.I tried the on line DT site with no luck.I have a 950 XTR rear hub that is a 28 hole that I would like to build on a Mavic 117 SUP rim ,any help would be appreciated. I thought I saw some spokes on E-BAY that were a brand that I have never heard of. I would like to use double butted spokes, sorry this is allot to ask but if anyone has positive input I would be grateful.thanks:D

For x3 lacing on both side:267 on the non-drive side
266 on the drive side
I always round-down on the spoke length ... so, you can use 266mm for both sides if you want.268 in the front
... but, you can probably use 266 in the front, too ... I would.
 amn you rock, thank you very much.I would like to know if you used SPOKEALOG from a bike shop?? I used to use this program and the shop had to subscribe yearly.Very easy to use ,just put in rim,hub the and spokes you wanted to cross and it would tell you front ,rear ,drive and non drive.Again thank you

It uses JAVA script, so if your computer doesn't have it loaded already, then you'll have to download & install a copy (that's FREE, too).
The database of rims & hubs hasn't been updated in years (at least six years, if not longer, by my reckoning!), but if your particular rim isn't listed, you can just measure the ERD (effective rim diameter) of your particular rim & change any of the numerical values of a listed rim that is in the database ... and, I've learned that you can round-down the calculated value.
BTW. The spoke length info I posted was for "regular"/(non-disc) XTR hubs.
The flange size for the Shimano XT (and, presumably any XTR) disc hubs is (conveniently & coincidentally) the same as for a vintage Campagnolo high flange hubs -- 67mm -- and, the distance of the disc-side flange from the center of the hub has to be adjusted on the front hub.

Well I just wanted to give a thanks out to you again ,I actually used a XTR 965 dist for the front and a 950 XTR rear (non disk of course) I only built them as a spare for myself or my 10 year old son,but I just centered the disk front hub and It lookes to be O.K. thanks for your help.
