Cleaner for sunglasses?

I just bought some Oakley Radars and was wondering if there is a good cleaner available. Water and a towel works okay for cleaning, but when I hold the glasses up to a light, they are still quite smudgy, so I'm thinking I might need something better to clean them with.

Thanks

ThanksAny store that sells specticles - optical shop, big box, etc - will sell pre-soaked wipes for glasses or proper cloths and cleaning solutions. This stuff is very cheap and designed to clean optical surfaces without damage. There's no sense using something else on expensive lenses.

I have the Oakley Radar Path sunglasses. I only clean with the black "velvety" cloth that the sunglasses came with when purchased. And it works well.

I do have a box of glasses wipes that I use in cleaning my regular eyeglasses, but I do not have the courage to clean the Oakleys with it, as I am afraid of the wipes ruining the coating on the Oakley lenses.

By the way, the wipes are called "Wipe 'n Clear", it is manufactured by Flents, and sold at Costco. I wish they could be used in cleaning the Oakleys, but I am not sure they are not going to ruin the lens coating.

I use dish soap and water, and dry them off with a bath towel and my Radars are doing just fine.

"Oakley Iridium® lens coating is engineered to reduce glare and improve contrast. An array of available tints allows the wearer to balance light transmission in any light condition. The 12-micron jacket of Iridium® must be treated with special care to avoid scratching. Never use cleaning solutions. Use only mild soap and water, and dry by gently blotting with the Microclear™ bag provided."

Hope this helps

In an 8oz bottle put:

1oz household ammonia
3oz isopropyl alcohol
2-3 drops liquid dish detergent
fill with water

Don't use paper towels which tend to scratch. I use pieces of old all cotton tee shirt which I let dry and re-use. This method has never harmed any lense cheap or expensive, and cleans as well as the stuff you buy.

+1 for the opti shop. I've got some stuff called 'opti-clean' from the local optician...works a treat
