Real entry level spec. I wouldn't be doing any free riding with that bike, the parts will not last.
If you are going to be doing heavy duty riding you need parts, frame, and suspension that can take a real beating.
You need to be looking at a long travel frame and fork, built strong. Decent large discs, strong rims and lots of spokes, strong cranks handle bars, seat and seat post.
What you spend now will likely pay you back with robustness.

how much do you recommend that I need to spend inorder to get a durable enough free ride bike and are there any suggestions as to which company and model that you would recommend?
There are lots of bikes that would suit you and your budget.
Go to your local bike shop(s) and check what brands they sell. Spend your money on frame and suspension, the rest you can replace/upgrade when they wear out or you crash!
A good bike shop will set you up with something decent and you can discuss price and fit etc. They should also give you free service and on going support as your type of riding does tend to flog any bike.
Talk to your mates, as if you are riding the same stuff they do, thier equipement woes will likely end up being yours one day as well!
I would look for something in the 150mm travel range. This will allow you ride up the hills, and for a beginner is enough travel for plenty extreme enough riding as your skill increases.
