Because you guys obviously don't give a fuckn shit about it.

If this forum dies, the only other option will be Bike Forums, which is ok, but its population consists of 70% fuckwits, with no fucking idea about bikes, so it's hard sifting through all the bullshit to find the people who actually know what they're talking about :p

I agree I hardly come on anymore because of all the SPAM bullshit!!!!!

As a member said before he was killed by a text messager in Colorado... To a similar blast of Bikeforums:

I on the otherhand am not nearly as concise as he was.

You obviously love this forum, and that is great. And it is the first forum I became a member of as well, and I would hate to see it die. But, I don't know where you hang out at BikeForums.net when you look, but I have received far more information there than here.

There are some of their forums where debate is rampant, and perhaps too intense for me. (A&S)

There are some that you have to realize that about half of the posts are intentional jokes or at least partially tongue in cheek. (Road Cycling)

But take a look into Classic & Vintage... Where family members of people in historically important American cycling families hang out (Ross and Schwinn for example) Where at least one custom builder will let you know about their bikes, or confirm that a bike on Ebay is one they built (Richard Sachs).

Where Brooks has started to gather people to test their new saddle line with ergonomic cutouts...

Where BikesDirect.com offers an occasional great deal to the members.

Where SPAM disappears before most people ever knew it showed up.

Where the late Sheldon Brown spent his forum time, up to the night before he died.

They do things over there that people over here don't even dream about (at least in their messages). Forum jerseys from ground level (not produced by the owner of the site) including different jerseys for different regions, and even one for the 50+ crowd. Gatherings of members for regional rides. Group buys arranged by non-vendors.

I just couldn't sit and let you talk poorly about a nice forum. And don't look now, but a lot of people hang out on both forums...

I don't diss this forum, even if it is different than BikeForums... it is generally a more relaxing place, and if they deal with the SPAM I will keep coming back... but if I ever had to choose, dgregory57 would have to say a sad farewell to CyclingForums.com

yea the mods here suck. I would clean this place up for free if they would let me. By not taking care of the site...it's only going to get worse. That's a shame, because this is a really good source of information for a lot of riders.

I've been interested in starting another forum, then try and scalp everybody from every other forum until the mods got wise and banned me. There has to be money to be made in advertising one your hit rate was high enough.

Too much effort and I have no webserving/data base experience, so gave up on the idea.

I use this forum and one other. The other is far more high end and busier. I've noticed the post and topic rate here has slowed in the past 6 months.

Yeah, I pretty much have gone over to the other forum too. This was the first one that I ever joined so there are sentimental considerations that keep me checking it every so often, but it is getting so hard to find anything bicycle related that it seems to be a waste of time. It really has turned into Spammers Forums.

So if this forum is dying, where are some other places you all suggest?

I'm a software engineer and I'd be very keen to sort out the spam issues if I was given the access.

That said, I'm a newbie here, and haven't posted that much, so not sure how I'd gain the trust.

Who are the admins/owners? Can you reply? If I owned a community like this I'd make every effort to keep it running.

bikeforums.net is ok. http://www.bikeforums.net/
It's very busy, and is kinda the McDonalds of bike forums: :p it has massive turnover, but you've gotta sift through a LOT of morons to find the good customers. It's also about 99% U.S.-centric.

Weight Weenies is pretty good and has more Euro users. Good info, but not very busy, and some of guys are totally insane about using light stuff :p

The Serotta forum seems ok, but I don't spent much time there to know if it's any good.

That's about it. Some people like the Road Bike Review forum, but the layout is a bit old a shit, and a bit hard to read. It's also not very busy

I read weight weenies. A LOT more high end than in here.

If you try and ask how to change a tyre or something simple like people do in here, you will be shunned.

However if you ask what has more rolling resistance or weighs more, glue or tape for tubulars, you'll get a steady debate going!

Very active mods who will lock or move topics, even if there is another similar thread.

My only other forum I post to regularly is bikeforums.net,

I joined here first, and I have eight times the number of posts over there as I have here.

Other forums seem to be more specialized, which is a good thing if you share an interest...

Over there, you do see more real ads, but you also have the option of paying $25 to not see any of them.
