View Full Version : Spokes?
Hi, How much would it cost to buy 44 white spokes?...nothing fancy just white spokes. Would I be able to switch the spokes myself or do I need to take it to my LBS? Any price guesses if that is the case?

White? Or silver?
We charge $50 to build a wheel, $.70 per for silver DT 14/15 spokes, brass nipps included.
Definetly white! So you are saying that it would cost around 50 dollars to put the spokes in the wheel? Plus the cost of each spoke/nipple?

$50 labor to lace and 'build' the wheel, true, round, dish and tension, plus the cost of the spokes. Altho I have never seen white spokes, Silver and black but not white.

Purely because it would increase the appearance of my bike a lot. I am probably not going to have this process done since it would probably cost around 75 dollars at least. Did you mean 50 dollars per wheel or 50 per wheel set?

I can think of a couple of options: You could have the spokes powerder coated. Call either Joe Bell (the bike painter) or Bill Holland (the bike maker). There's a guy in their building who turns spokes black for DT. He might know of a place that can help, or possibly, might be able to give other direction.

I just wonder if white powder coating would hold up under the flexing of the spokes that takes place on a wheel. I know that it will flex more than enamel but I think that it would probably start to crack not too many miles down the road.
