Yup, I think Simoni came the realisation that he was not as competitive as a few of the other guys even at a full regimen, and therefore took a step back. He appears to enjoy riding his bike (witness his new interest in MTBing at a competitive level) and has been doing not half bad (he probably would have won the Giro that Basso dominated if the latter had been caught at that time)...

I don't know, I used to think Simoni shot his mouth off, but I actually like the guy now.
