Which crank bolt wrench to use here
Hi all,
I'm trying to replace my bottom bracket on my aging bike but I'm struggling to find the right tool to remove the cranks (see image below). I have a crank puller - the difficulty is finding the right tool to remove the crank bolt. I've tried a 14mm plug wrench but it's quality was somewhat dubious and I stopped before I did any damage. Is there a specialist tool for removing the bolt and does anybody know the tool number?
Cheers

Your not haveing much luck are you. just a standard socket set will normally work, but the crank puller normally has a socket built in so check it out. And that crank system is as standard as it gets so just ask at the bike shop, they will have one, trust me.
Good luck

A 15mm socket works with Campy. Decades ago I used 7/16" on a Stronglight 93. I've never worked with Shimano, though. Just be sure that your sockets are sufficiently thin-walled.

In the end I took the bike to a bike shop and they replaced the bottom bracket on the spot and in fraction of the time that I could. It turned out that I needed to get a BB with a longer spindle which may have been problematic if I had done the servicing myself.
I have also confirmed that the shimano does take a 14mm bolt and that Icetoolz does a cvombination 14/15mm bolt/ 8mm Allen key crank puller tool.
