Is leg extension the same on a mountain bike as a road bike? On my road bike at the bottom of the stroke my leg has just a slight bend. I have my MTB set up like this but it feels like my saddle is a bit to high. Do you not need that much leg extension on a MTB. I know that the type of riding has a lot to do with it to. I just ride XC no crazy drops or downhill.

I just ride XC no crazy drops or downhill.5-10mm lower is what I like to run. It's really just a compromise to allow you to manoeuvre around the saddle when you're out of the saddle. That's what works for me, anyhow.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to lower it 1cm and try it out this week if the weather lets me.
The reason I asked in the first place is because when the bike store did a fit session the guy said I could actually go a bit higher. but I really think its just a bit to high for my liking.

Depends on the riding. I just have one bike and it's a mountain bike. If I'm going to ride just on the road I keep the seat as high as possible where I get full leg extension. If I'm going off road or playing around downtown I'll lower the seat quite a bit.
