You could try Conti with kevlar, its nowhere near as good, but cheaper and has similar puncture protection. Try the armadillos with about 135 psi, that's what i usually run. Never go with Michelin, worse tyres in the world.

Can't say that I agree with this.

All the Michelins I ever used have had little or no puncture protection...my bike came with Axial Pro as standard, and i flatted on the first ride; getting the tyre off, I realised there was no real "crown" like you get on an Armadillo, the tread pattern was just cut into the casing ! it's supposed to be a "fast" tyre because of this. But I couldnt wait to wear them out and change them...

I use the Elite Roubaix and All Condition. Roubaix is a tad lighter but it is a fat tyre, and barely clears my fork crown. They're a 23c case with 25c tread and a quite big. I would go for the All Condition. Haven't punctured on em so far and the roads where I live (rural Australia) are bad.

I use the Specialized Armadillo Elites on my commuter bike, and I'm very happy with them. Aside from the one time I cornered over a patch of carpet tacks (that some vandals had strewn across the bike path) and punctured a sidewall, I've never flatted with them in >3000 miles of urban riding, and unlike every other supposed "flat-proof" tire I've heard of (e.g., the older non-Elite Armadillos) these do not feel like riding on a garden hose.

I put swanky "performance-oriented" tires on my main road bike, but if I only had one bike I'd probably use Armadillo Elites on it.
