GPS system recommendations

I was considering one of those Timex Ironman GPS systems to track exact distances for running (and
biking I do).
However, I was told that they don't work that well. Any other systems that work well?
How exact?
They are good, but it does depend on the track to a great extent. They are not ready to
measure a race course for certification yet. For your bike you can get very high accuracy with
one of those electronic add ons. I ride a 21.2 mile circuit. I am consistent within a couple
of hundreds of a mile each time, unless I take a little side trip. That is close enough to
take care of things like a few wide turns or going around a temporary obstacle like a horse on
the trail.
