Best day of racing ever?
Could today possibly be the best day of racing ever?
1) The T-Mobile race... Horner solos to sweet victory with teammate McCormick taking 2nd.
2) The Vuelta a Espana stage... didn't really skake up the GC much but looked freaking painful and
intense for a *long* time on the telly.

No.
not bad though.
I can't say if it was the best day of racing, ever, but I'll look forward to seeing the broadcast of
the T-Mobile race on OLN when it airs. Sounds like Horner made a really gutsy break -- and after
battling back from a flat-induced deficit. Gutsy.
And that finish in the Vuelta was pretty remarkable. I don't ever recall seeing a bunch sprint for a
mountaintop finish quite like that before. It was pretty cool.

Dumbass -
that was pretty dumb to consider yesterday as the best day of racing ever.
As for the best ever, I'd have to say the last day of the 1989 TdF, even if it was a goddamm time
trial. Too melodramatic and cheesy even for a Hollywood script.

Best day for the women is when LZ won her third gold medal down under. Not nearly as exciting as the
drama from last day of 89 TDF in such a short span of time.

That race was one of the most negative and boring, ever.

Ok then, you name me some other day when 2 fields of this quality raced on two races courses of
this quality.
Good luck.

I'll bet there was something similar in 1995 when numerous Euros were training in Colorado Springs
and they held a stage race in the snow in September. There was probably a equal or greater quality
race somewhere in Europe at the same time.

Any day there was a major tour on and Stephen Roche went for a training ride.

By your account? That is your very narrow opinion. Besides, there were 4 events, don't forget the
silver in the points race. I found the the whole story that played out quite interesting.

Any race that doesn't have a break attempt get more than 10 seconds up the road is damn boring. I am
not alone in that judgement.
Do you understand the term 'negative racing'? That race was the epitome of
it.
That doesn't mean that you shouldn't hold that sort of crap in high regard. Everyone is entitled to
their opinion.

You are limiting it to one event. The whole story is quite interesting. She not only came back from
deaths door to compete, but she won 3 golds, more then any man or women in the history of cycling.
She set a world record on the track, would of won the points race, if not for the Italian girl was
so far out in front, but LZ was clear in the second position. She literally destroyed the field in
the TT and the Road race wasn't entirely boring. There was rain, crashes and the sprint finish was
close almost right up to the line when the field was blown apart by her final push. Bud Greenspan
showtime documentary was quite good. She become such a hero in the NL that they a did a documentary
there too. You wouldn't hear many of the NL fans saying such things. To the contrary she was one of
the biggest sports stars they had based on her efforts in Sydney, which you call dam boring. I don't
agree. But then again most of RBR considers womens races to be dam boring anyway so I would expect
such comments. Again, akin to those who say that women races are about as exciting as Lawn Bowling.
I just don't see it that way.
Of course who am I to argue with the supreme ruler.
See if she breaks Longo's hour record in Mexico City next month.

Hey, I got a question for you Mr. Chang,
Did you ever make it to Cat-1 or Cat-2?

Dumbass -
I've worked as a road manager for a few women's teams.
Not all women's racing is boring. The 2000 Olympics RR was, for the aforementioned reasons.
You are entitled to your opinion.

Ya, did the local/regional stuff for 6 years. Took me 5 years to get there. Not a whole
lotta talent.

I understand where you are coming from on this one. I have had lengthy similar discussions with
another RBR poster who was extremely critical of Sydney for lot of reasons. Your opinions are mild
compared to his, but again there are plenty that support her efforts and see it as far from boring,
but I know what the consensus is.
