 That's right up there with Armstrong's holding his fingers up to 7, eh? Although, I'll give you this, Jono. McEwen is much hotter. ;)

Isn't he a midget? That's probably the first time he has ever been described as twice the man.

C - I still don't understand what your saying. You are on a cycling forum saying that the reason Americans suck at a big aspect of cycling is because it isn't worth caring about.

It would be like being on a computer game forum (hypothetically) and saying the reason that Americans aren't good at computer games (hypothetically) is because playing computer games is for losers. The obvious question is: What are you doing posting on a computer game forum?

Sprinting is a big part of road and track cycling. Saying it's not worth caring about only begs the question: Do you care about it?

 :D ;)

Ok, Cranky, first, my point is similar to your #1 in a previous post here (don't remember the post number).

Secondly, and most importantly, my original point was the thread starter and a subsequent poster were railing Americans as a whole, with the usage of "you" and the C word and all. So, I simply pointed out the obvious that appeared to not be so obvious to them. The masses in the US (i.e. the "you" people that were referenced) don't care about pro cycling. Hence, the only dozen or so tracks that you yourself pointed out. Most people don't even know what sprinting is. They only know about the yellow jersey. I was speaking in the general, since the original reference was also generalities. I was not speaking about me specifically.

But, as for me specifically, I don't much have a stake in it either way. I like watching bike races, when I have a free moment. And I skim the threads as I can. I'm not emotionally attached to any one rider. There are a few a like more than others, but whatever. So, we suck at sprinting. Whoopty doo. I think I'll go for a bike ride now. (Well, not really. It's midnight. But you get my point.) I also read a lot of the training/nutrition/equipment stuff here.

You've made some of my very points in this thread. Has an imposter invaded your account here with this post? ;)

Btw, I peruse a lot of forums for which I really have no interest. I've got quite the collection of nametags. (j/k) :D

There is something wrong with your reading comprehension. And referring to the masses completely misses thunder and my tongue in cheek point, which was that a/ there aren't any good seppo road sprinters and b/ why that is the case (which is our racing culture is geared towards developing riders with these abilities, unlike the US). Whether the sport is popular with the wider US community is irrelevant.

I can guess that thunder knew I'd wade in, make a point and be totally obnoxious about it because I did something similar on another forum. How could you take comments like 'Davis Phinney's mum rooted an Aussie' and 'Alby Davis must have caught seppo off Lance' seriously? Because you got so wound about it I reckon the thread has inadvertently been an overwhelming success. It deserved about 5 responses at most. We are running at 2 pages. All hail thunder!!!!

I didn't get wound up about it classic. I made a matter-of-fact retort and then you all got wound up about it in your replies. ;)

Of course he knew you'd respond in your manner, just as he was probably hoping I'd respond in mine. ;) And, believe me, I thought about that before engaging. This is like reality friggin' internet tv, plot twists and all. All for entertainment's sake.

Smoke 'n mirrors man, smoke 'n mirrors . . . pay no attention to the (wo)man behind the curtain . . .

Trust me, I assure you all, I take none of you seriously. :p (does going back to the over-use of emoticons help clarify things?)

The only reason this thread is a success is because we all are bullshiting the bullshiter. And, it's been fun.

But, in the interest of full disclosure, I did interpret your post in the manner I described. I wasn't privy to your bikeforums post, or wherever.

Is the horse dead yet? It is for me, 'cause it's no longer funny. Actually, it's way past my bedtime. Now, if I come back tomorrow and there's more posts directed at me in this thread, I think we'll have to ask Lim just to go ahead and pull the plug already 'cause there's just no hope. :D

LOL. Didn't you say that about 50 posts ago?

C- You seem to be arguing against Americans being derided as poor sprinters by your "boxing pals"/Aussie adversaries in the forum and probably their use of the term "seppo". Your argument really doesn't address the issue IMHO. There are far more US road cyclists than Australian road cyclists. Australia has about the population of Texas. Whilst comparitive popularity of track cycling is a factor, you don't have to do track to learn how to sprint.

Why aren't there more US sprinters? If it became more of an African American sport here, then American's would probably dominate sprinting in world cycling. Now shoot me as a racist.

LOL. Didn't you say that about 50 posts ago?No, going back to your reading comprehension, I actually said this:

"I think the pot was stirred enough and the horse is done dead already."

Meaning, surely it was no longer exciting for everyone reading it and has just become stupid.

TDL then interjected something else, to which I responded "Great, here we go again." Hence all the other mostly boring posts following his.

Now, I say the horse is dead for me at this point and my bed is calling. ;)

Cranky, I don't know. It's a good question. Why don't they focus on sprinting? Who the hell knows. JB would know. He's the American God of cycling, though he's not American, but we can ignore that trivial fact.

But I can tell you this much. I'm gonna sprint my ass on outta here and up to my bed.

You are no match for me honey. No honey. Clearly I won. My last post to you was checkmate, as Jono so kindly pointed out. But, I knew you'd choose to NOT prove me wrong. ;) Either way, I in fact had the last word. Looks like you lose again thunder. Sucks doesn't it. :p

Italiano, I thought I had a lot of free time last night. Please. Nobody ever accuse me of using too many emoticons again.

Okay, kids. Time to put this in perspective for everyone one last time.
Plain and simple. Hubby's outta town and I had nothing better to do. Like a "mate" recently said to me: That's equivalent to letting loose a cat in an aviary. Of course, there's more backstory to that analogy, but thanks mate. ;) :D Sorry, but none of you are really that important to me. ;) :p Get over yourselves already.

Remember, there were about 5 people posting against me. So take my number of posts and divide by 5 for a more realistic picture. ;)

Are we done yet? I mean I do have more time if you need it, and I appreciate this captive audience and all, but I'll be leaving in an hour and tied up the rest of . . . well, the rest of my life really so, the hourglass is running out at this point. :D

You don't care... no not at all... ;) . Your reluctance to post here is ample indication of that... :p

I actually was quite interested in the debate over explanations as to why Americans haven't produced more sprinters. But it has now become a thread of chuckles, watching C tell us in 5,000 words or more why she doesn't care about any of this ... :D

And C - You are very important to us, if I can speculate on other people's behalf... :(
