Need small parts

What part of the brake is it from? Try your local hardware shop if it looks
like an ordinary bolt.

Tip: Never throw away any bike part or accessory without first stripping it
down and removing all the nuts and bolts. Every cyclist should have a box
of such junk.

Cycle Surgery branches generally have more Cateye fittings than you
can shake a particularly rattly stick at, if you're in London.

For some reason the title of this thread brings to mind all those emails

Absolutely. "Bits box" in my case is a euphemism for a house full of j...,

Yes. At a Dr Bike last week someone was short of nuts for some bolts
attaching the mudguards. The allen key nuts from V-brakes fitted
perfectly. I usually keep them and some of the washers when throwing
away worn-out pads.

Washers are at least as important to keep as nuts and bolts - you
never know when you'll need 5 to make something fit.

Found a bracket on there that will do the job. I'll try in my LBS see if

I think listing everything in my junk boxes would be a bit of a waste of
time, but I bet many people have a few rare items that it might be worth
listing, especially things that you have bought and never used, or taken
off the bike still in a usable condition.

I'm so dumb. Went to my LBS and found a bracket for £1.99. Got it home and
immediately started changing it over. When I took the old one off I found
the nut was already in there, I'd just put the bolt in at the wrong end.
On putting the new bracket in with my spares I found I'd already got a
spare bracket that must have come with the light. Argh!!
