i'm on the last stages of my build-up (full shimano Ultegra) and trying to decide advantages/disadvantages of various housing types (both brake and shifter). Can somebody give me a quick overview or direct me to where I can find this information?
Are Shimano better than Jagwire?
What should I look for? Teflon? pre-lubricated?
Who's a good source of good quality colored housings?
thanks in advance

My bikes are all Campy and two of them have Nokon cales and housing. The install is a pain, but they work very well and are pretty light. Kinda pricey though. If I was using Shimano, I may only use the Nokon brake cables/housing and use the standard Shimano shift cables.

The only thing I've found ever to make a difference is to make sure that you use helical-strand sheaths for brakes. They say that linear strand sheaths make for better shifting, but I've used the wrong kind for gear cables and noticed no difference. As for brand? Whichever you think looks the best.

I use Gore RideOn sealed low-friction. Dogs dangly bits. There again I ride in all weather conditions on all kinds of surfaces.

Get good, teflon lined, 5mm housing made by anybody, including Jagwire. I don't rec. 4mm shift housing as it doesn't allow the freedom of movement of 5mm, plus most have crappy plastic ferrules(brass are best.
