Cyclingnews: More erroneous reporting/rewriting
Cyclingnews isn't a site Davey often goes to.

But a short while ago Davey's phone rang. It was a team-mate
laughingly enquiring whether he had seen how a Sportif/Brevet
Randonneur had been upgraded to a significant race by someone at
Cyclingnews.

Davey hadn't, since he prefers news to history, but he took a look
anyway.

The event was "La Laurentine Kivilev" which "100 kilometer race" was
reportedly "won" by one Alexandre Vinokourov.

Now since Saint Laurent du Var is pissing distance from Antibes,
Davey's club (including chicks) entered en masse, most of the club,
for the 100 klick Wankerz route, but some including Davey for the more
ambitious 170 klick ballbuster which saw Vino line up alongside his ex
team-mate on Astana, Sergueï Yakovlev, fresh off the 88th Volta
Ciclista a Catalunya.

Vino finished first, so in a way he did "win" as reported by
Cylingnews although "La Laurentine Kivilev" isn't about winning any
more than any cycling event is actually. "La Laurentine Kivilev" was
to honour the memory of the Kazakh rider who died at the 2003
Paris-Nice.

Here's Vino on the start line on the left:

Interestingly, 81 years old Fortuné Capitoni, of the US Saint-André
club was the Doyen of the 100 klicker and 78 years old Victor Revel,
Davey's club OCCA team-mate, was the oldest rider to finish the 170
klicker, which slightly miffed Davey, who although he had no intention
of trying to hold Vino or Yakolev's wheel, had hoped to make the
podium as the oldest finisher..

Davey was wondering, just to satisfy his curiosity, whether you were
actually born, or Pissed up against the Wall on Saturday Night and
Hatched Out by the Sun on Sunday Morning?
