Hi all,
I just got a bike with a Shimano 3cc 3 speed internal geared hub! I love the bike but I am wondering what the differences are between the two hubs? I have read Sheldon’s option of the ccc Shimano hub and am wondering if the 3cc has the same problems. What exactly are the problems that can go bad on 3cc hub? I have an exploded view picture of a 3 speed Shimano hub that I got searching the inter net. I have also heard that the main fail point is that the gears inside the hub break apart and take the rest of the hub with it. Is this true? If it is true how do I stop that from happing? What is the regular maintenance of a hub like this?
Please be patient with me this is my first 3-speed hub so I have lots to learn
