Steve,
i am hurt.. I know your hurt! All that you can really do with torn muscles is rest them until they heal, and it may take more than three months. If you keep cycling, you will just aggravate the injury and it will take much longer to heal. You can't train anywhere near 100% with this type of injury, so you probably should give it a rest until you are fit again, and begin training again. Yeah, your gonna lose some of your muscle tone and endurance, but you will be back on your bike more quickly and be able to get it back. Just in case you haven't seen your doctor, you might want to make an appointment. It might be more than torn muscles that is causing your pain.

Steve,
i am hurt..If you've been training with this injury for 3 months then you may need a little professional help to speed things along.
You may also want to look at what caused the injury in the first place - if it was a 'on the bike injury' then the last thing you probably want to do is ride the bike without "fixing" the cause first.
Im for letting an injury rest before going to the dr, but at 3 weeks, let alone 3 months, with no improvement, id say its agout that time to get it looked at

now that i have iced the injury and walking with only one feet..the swelling/pain is 70 percent less..so what nexxt should i do?? i want to be 100percent right time..
Cao,
Happy cyclist..
I injured my knee in 1985 and the doctor did nothing since then I have re-injured it several times and the last Friday in a minor fall skiing. I am waiting for the orthopedist to call with my appointment .
Being an active person and feeling lame right now just sucks!
Get it checked out. I wanted to wait and let my foot heal from a tendon problem and it turned out it was severely torn and I needed surgery. Not what I wanted to hear but the surgery was done 4 weeks ago and I'm recovering nicely(already, its better than it was before surgery. At least for peace of mind, find out what's wrong. You can also go to another doctor if you don't like the answer. It's mostly likely what you think it is and you may just need some help from a physical therapist to get you on the right track.

Cao,
Happy cyclist..It may be 70% better, but obviously that means its still swollen 30% more than the other side. Not to sound like captain obvious, but swelling is your bodys way of getting extra blood flow to the site of an injury. If you are still swollen, chances are there is still some dammage. At 3mo out, im not sure how much a dr is really going to do for you, but atleast getting it looked at will hopefully give you an idea of what is going on. Again, Id have it looked at. At this point in the year, you are only a few months away from racing season (if you race) or just nice weather to get long rides in. I would hate to jeopardize that knowing that some sort of pt, etc could have been done to get me back to 100% faster than rest/ice alone. good luck!
