Hi everyone. I'm planning a cross country ride with a friend, and I've got an equipment question. I currently own a Specialized Transition. Not the newer version, but this: http://www.hamiltonbikes.com/images/SpecializedTransitionMulti_Chr_l.gif
Is this something that will get me across the country? Or would I be better off getting a true road bike? I mean, obviously that would be optimal, but would a tri-bike do the job? Limited budget :\

thanks!

Two things I see that you may want to consider. Do you want to carry gear and the wheels. I would get something that is more easily repaired at 'anybikeshopUSA'. Also(a third thing I guess) do you want fenders?

If it fits you, the bicycle as it sits, would work fine. Fenders, carrying gear, more serviceable wheels, but as a bike to ride, if it fits, fine.
