What are your protein sources?
What is your fat intake?
Protein shakes in water. It aint pretty but if you want it you will do it.
...eat pies, drink beer....works for me!
Weight gainer shakes. I take them now and I am well over 200 therefore they work (like my logic).
Most fat people didn't have a big stomach until they starting overfeeding themselves. It stretches. Thanksgiving time helps.

i take 100-200gm of meat, chicken fish daily..how much of protein and fats is that;) ;)
If you have trouble adding in enough calories from complex carbohydrates and quality proteins, consider using EFA's like fish oil, flax seed oil or other types of essential fatty acids. It doesn't take much in the amount and some of them have little taste. You can start by adding like a tablespoon of flax seed oil to each meal (if you are eating at least 6 meals per day) for a few weeks. The EFA's are a concentrated good source of calories for the hard gainer.
Eating meat proteins is okay in my book, but I try my best to reduce animal fat and replace those fat calories with EFA's.

WHY are you counting the grams of the food you are eating?!?
Just as a person needs to eat LESS food than they otherwise need to get through the day if they want to lose weight, you need to consume MORE calories than you need to get through your daily routine if you want to gain weight ...
You can begin by eating the YOLKS of the two eggs you are eating each morning.
It is not uncommon for very athletic people to eat 5000-or-more calories a day ... without knowing your actual, daily menu, it sounds like you are barely eating 2000 calories per day.
Unless there are some religious dietary restrictions, consider going to Burger King and ordering a Whopper & some fries at least once a week if not on a daily basis ... PLUS add some non-aerobic activity to your daily/weekly training to USE those excess calories in a constructive way.

Google "Atole".
Alfeng - Thank you, very well put.
Seriously, it isn't that hard to put on weight once you actually start to eat.
Now... I don't think you need to go bonkers on BK, but "cheating" a bit to help yourself put on a few pounds won't kill you.
I'd say until you are at your target weight (sounds like you could put on about 25-35 lbs and be perfectly fit for cycling), just add another portion of everything you eat to your plate. You don't need to eat butter and fried chicken all the time, but an extra portion of food at eatch meal will add up eventualy.
9 months ago, I was 125 lbs and 5'10" due to overtraining and stress from school. After resting up, I began to lift 2x per week, sleep a bit more, and focus on eating lots of nutrient-dense foods. Namely, I stopped worrying about eating like a lean cyclist.
I started slowly, by adding 1/2 cup of oatmeal to my normal 1 cup for breakfast, and sprinkling some flax meal and almonds or walnuts into the porridge. Soon I was having this plus an omelet each morning - It sounds like a lot, but you need to EAT to gain weight.
I would also bring homemade granola or an apple and string cheese to classes with me in between meals so that I could eat something every 2.5 to 3 hours.
Lunch was usually a cup of skim milk, a thick turkey sandwich, an apple with some peanut butter, and a small salad with grape tomatoes and carrots.
Afternoon snack was an orange and a cup of cottage cheese.
Dinner was a mound of rice or quinoa, steamed veggies, and chicken or some other lean meat.
Before bed, I would blend up some cottage cheese, a little natural vanilla yogurt, and cocoa powder with some EFAs into a shake - TASTY.
In addition to all of this, I enjoyed a few more cookies and slices of pizza than I normally do. Pizza has it's place!
After following this, and getting back into a normal training regimen, I'm now 152 lbs, and only gained about 1% bodyfat. I'll probably be right around 150 to 148 for the race season. So... Just eat a lot of healthy foods and include some basic strength training (squats, d-bell presses, deadlifts, etc.)
Chances are you are probably burning MUCH more energy than you think you are. Even doing this, I didn't gain noticable weight for almost 2 weeks, until my body became adjusted to the changes I was making. Be patient, and you'll be able to reach a healthier weight. Good luck man.

Steve,
SkinnyBigger legs ain't gonna help your cycling, and cycling ain't gonna get you bigger legs. If you want to get bigger eat more and go to the gym. And don't listen to anyone here except Felt Rider. :)

Actually I was thinking about this thread this evening after I finished doing my sets of intervals on the trainer. I fixed a nice big helping of spaghetti for me and the wifey.
Normally that would be my favorite meal for weight gain along with bread, extra virgin olive oil, real Parmesan cheese and nice big glass of skim milk for my recovery meal. :D But I am doing well in my watts/kg goal for losing about a pound a week.
I agree that cycling won't give you bigger legs, more defined, but not always bigger and it depends on the individual and the type of cycling you do. Flats vs hills and distance vs intensity.
Weight training and diet canl increase leg size, if that is what you really want.
BTW: Can't gain weight, "boo hoo", you suck man! :D
LOLZ. You sure picked the wrong sport. All the other cyclists are killing themselves to lose weight.
my weight is 120lbs and i am 5ft 9.
Why do you want more weight? Pantani was 121 or something. Just go live in the mountains and OWN them. :D
You're probably not skinny in the third world. :)

You're probably not skinny in the third world. :)I remember hearing that Leipheimer was only 125 lbs in the midst of the tour - but then again... that's in the midst of the tour. Look at before and after shots of any of the athletes, and tell me that they couldn't put on a few healthy pounds upon the completion of the race. ;)
Remember that it's hard to put out adequate wattage when you get too thin, but this point is different between people.
And wasn't Pantani relatively short for a guy? I want to say he was 5'6" or 5'7" or something. So I guess 121 at that size might work out. I guess some are truely built for climbing... and I suppose a little EPO doesn't hurt either... but I didn't say that. Makes me feel huge by comparison though.
Stevechow, just eat more and lift a couple times a week if you want to get bigger. If you want to get faster on a bike and increase cardiovascular fitness, don't worry about your size - the previous poster was probably right - GO OWN THE MOUNTAINS! Just train, recover, repeat, and eat a healthy diet along the way.
All the best.
After reviewing the thread title I now understand that you were asking for "bad help".
I think I may qualify as an expert.

I was wondering how long it would take for the thread to go sour. http://cyclingforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif
I was tired of being skinny when I was 20. I did the see food diet. It worked great. I ate as much as I could until my stomach hurt because it was so full. I gained 30 lbs in 2 weeks. It stayed on for the next 3 years and then I had to train and run a marathon to lose that fat.
2 weeks to gain and 6 months to lose. Stay skinny!
why did you eat until your stomach is hurt..and the scariest thing is to lose all the spares...
Steve,
Happy ccylist
