Powertap Comp vs Elite

If I save $440 by getting the wired (comp version) I think I can deal with the zip ties on the frame. Or is my thinking way off here?

I agree which is why all my PT hubs are wired versions mostly SLs with the exception of the track hub which is an old wired Pro.

That and they were all bought used with no issues. Wires don't bother me and I don't understand the fascination with wireless versions.

Tip: you can use gaffer tape (http://www.goodbuyguys.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/22_86), which will not leave a sticky residue if removed.
I taped my PT wires to the bottom of the down tube and stay. It looks wireless unless you are close to the bike. I would post a picture but even in the picture you cannot see the difference between the tape color and the frame. Comes in a few colors.

The only issue to consider is the potential for Saris to one day stop servicing wired hub models. Like they decided to stop servicing the old Pro model.

In any case, the wired models are very reliable.

When choosing a PM, the quality of data provided is the #1 consideration, everything else is a feature.

There is no difference in the quality of data between the cheapest and most expernsive models in the range.

This is great info for me, as my next investment (hopefully by xmas) is a PT. The Comp ($600) was my 1st choice, but my LBS is suggesting the Elite+ for $1,100.

It aint about the bike and it aint even about the powermeter, it's about your training and the gear won't get you there nearly as fast as a coach or at least some direction.

Definitely got to co-sign onto this emotion. I've always been substance over style - any day and every day. Not knockin' those who buy/have wireless, but that extra dough over a wired PT, for me at least, is better spent elsewhere...to each his own though...

I hear ya on that, you're right, but I figured that with the high cost of coaching (not fully knowing Alex's better prices) I will need to be training with a PM anyways, either to self-coach, or further down the line, a PM is one of the greatest tools to train with. Even when a coach is doing my plan the PM comes into play. Anyways, after a little chat with Alex, I'm definitely getting on board.

With a plan and the passion you have you could make things interesting over on the its killing me thread during our winter season.

Well I did get the comp with the "coded" chest strap($40 extra) which leads me to believe it is the SL version under a new name. I'm getting used to the features and mousing around with the software it is really cool. Why did I wait so long to get one? This might sound nuts but I had it laced to a MTB wheel because my rollers were eating my road tires. My theory being that the money I save on tires can go towards a road PT. Thanks for the help
