Powertap avgs

One for the powertap users.
Whilst doing a ride and you have pressed both buttons at once to record the start of an interval is there a way of getting the average power reading for that interval and not for the whole ride while you are riding .

Cheers

Put it into interval mode. It will then show the data pertaining to that interval only.

Right. Holding the mode button for 2 seconds will put it into interval mode, then do the same to get back out.

Cheers guys, do you have to do this for every interval or will it stay in that mode until changed again.

there is an option to display current, or previous interval data, or just the whole of ride data.

I don't think you guys are very helpful. Here:

Something about helping those who help themselves?

It's all in the manual, which is freely downloadable if one doesn't already have a copy. Don't be lazy, read up and learn - it will help and one might even find out some other cool things about their power meter.

Also much safer than trying to remember a comment you read one time on the forums. For example:

1) hold one button for 2 seconds goes into interval mode
2) hold the other button for 2 seconds goes into torque mode
3) hold both buttons for 2 seconds loses all your data

I wouldn't feel comfortable hearing that and then trying to remember/apply it during my next ride without screwing it up.

Probably the easiest method: hold the mode (left) button for 2 seconds at the start of your first interval each day. This will change the display mode to interval AND start the interval timer at the same time. After that the display will stay in interval model until you switch it back out by doing the same thing, but you typically won't need to do that.

You can only display 9 intervals with the Powertap computer. You need to download the data to see more than 9. ;)

Awwww.... c'mon. If it's in the book we'll just answer with a page number. :D

Those menus and navigation aren't the most intuitive, but they're pretty easy to get used to after you've used them a couple times. :)

Ok then,

can you programme say a max test into the CPU like increase wattage every minute .

Cheers

(sat waiting now with manual)

No, nor can you program any kind of alarm, timer or anything else that tells you to do anything on a preset schedule.

The PT CPU displays things like real time, average and peak data, records up to nine intervals for ride time display and records all ride data for upload to a computer (till you run out of memory).

But it doesn't have any training aids like reminders to start or stop an interval or power targets of any kind including incremental ramps.

Hey, if the book doesn't say you can do it... then you can't. :D

Actually, it almost sounds like the new functions added into the wireless "+" units could be able to do something like this, since they track time in zone, etc. But I don't know how to use any of that new stuff since I learned all the basic functions on an older model and was too lazy to go back and re-RTFM when I upgraded. :o
