Hi All,

I relativley new to this whole cycling game and have an older (circa 1992) LOOK full carbon bike with Dura Ace running gear. As you could imagine the running gear is a bit worn, and is slipping a touch / not that smooth. I have two options that I am exploring:

1. Upgrade to a new 105 groupset ($$$)
2. Buy some older Dura ACe componentry. ($)

MY question is this - is the newest 105 better than older dura ace? As far as i can see my DA is 7402 Hyperglide 8 speed (12-21).

Cheers!

You imply the older DA stuff is wearing out(?) 105 stuff shifts the chain around, the brakes stop you, the cranks turn around. If the DA shifters are working, the derailleurs aren't worn out, just need a cogset and chain, get those and continue to ride. Lots of new components won't make that big of a difference(none?) if the old stuff is working.
