I saw the first flight (flew over my school in Surrey), I hope to see the last one.
And I got to cross the Atlantic on it in between :)
It will be a sad day.

My birthday also. Pity I am on the otherside of the world. May your pedals keep turning and your
spokes never grow rusty.

Only time I flew concorde it was delayed for eight odd hours :o(.
Still I must be one of the few people who has been offered a down grade to First class.

Should have taken it ;-) While its nice to have done it to be honest I prefer to be able to stretch
my legs out, walk around and not get cooked by the windows.

No I'm glad I did it, when they switch the afterburners on at mach .9 the Paul smith in all of us
comes out.
The windows only get warm and there was plenty of room to walk around. The plane was less than half
full, how else would a cheapskate pleb like me get a seat ;o)

As I said its nice to have done it and although I've flown it a few times it was not my first choice
after the first time.

If you are sat next to the window its like sitting next to a radiator for three hours and I would
very much dispute the plenty of room to walk around. One aisle and not a very wide one at that. You
do get to meet some interesting people though.

And the huge grins! Does this mean that my set of "Concorde" playing cards ( given to me by one of
the cabin staff will suddenly leap in value?

Sure but I'm not a seasoned traveller, normally they wouldn't dream of letting me out of my cage.
I think the trick is that everyone wants to fly concorde to NY because the time difference means
that you can leave home at a reasonable time and still be in the office in NY for 9. However there
is no point flying back from NY to London because the time difference works against you, you might
as well just get a comfy chair and sleep.
So I guess what you are saying is exactly why BA used to offer so many freebies back from NY to
London to standard business travelers and of course why I got to fly concorde in the first place.

Not sure why this thread got onto this group, but it looks like a bike is going to be the only way
to get near Heathrow on the day. If any of you make the journey you should get the triple treat of
one landing on each runway and a third flying over the top avec les Red Arrows (like the Heathrow
50th in 1996, and possibly the Golden Jubilee or did I dream that?)
