I particularly like the "you trot out some tired and discredited statistics" in the opening
paragraph of his letter to David Begg.

Pot, kettle, black.

And, is it an age thing -- but I would shudder at receiving a letter from the SS and my late Mum
would have had palpitations.

centre parting.

Hahahoho. He's got a very posh voice though - heard him on the Mike Dicken show on Talksport
last week.

No no no.

He looks like he listens to status quo or rides a recumbent or something.

Recumbent? Nah, he'd need a beard for that :)

Spoilsport. It is so hard not to be prejudiced by people's appearance that I confidently expect that
in a year or two's time we will have to interview candidate undergraduates from behind a curtain (or
more likely, this being Oxford, under a brown paper bag). That sort of picture makes it so much
harder to hang on to the last threads of an attempt to believe that he is an essentially sane and
rational individual struggling to cope with the burden of a limited delusion.

Why is it that all the letters from SS supporters in the papers begin "I am a supporter of SS... I
was recently fined..."? There was a tremendously indignant letter in one of the prints recently
complaining that the writer had been fined for doing about 40mph in a 30mph limit in Coedpoeth when
after all it was only 8am on a Saturday. I was only just able to resist the temptation to reply that
I too was indignant because on many Saturday mornings, 8am would find me trying to cross Coedpoeth
High Street just uphill from the camera which is after all only catching cars that are exceeding the
limit as they struggle up the hill through the middle of the village.

There are times when you can measure unsafe driving in miles per hour.

Bwuhahahahahahahaha!

I love the "letter" on the SS website - "I am a supporter ... for a range of reasons; 1. I was
recently fined..."

No doubt if we set up a SafeArmedRobbery website we might attract similar endorsements from the
likes of "Mad" Frankie Fraser.

Who pays him for providing this public service?

At one time it would have been the russians, but now they are poor they have less interest in the
lunatic fringe.

It's not me is it?Not through my taxes?

Since Roos has joined a sea kayaking club she already has an honourary beard, and thus has no need
to grow an actual one before getting a recumbent. I imagine geologists and model railway enthusiasts
could get a similar "by". And indeed computer security people! ;-)

Pete.

I wonder is it cause or effect? Do people that hate the idea of wasted effort buy recumbents and
grow beards, or is it that those that are too lazy to shave see the benefit of a recumbent in
allowing them to be lazier?
