I have a Raleigh Royal which has a problem with the bottom bracket it periodically comes loose due to the thread having been cross threaded at manufacture this wears out the chainwheel etc.

I like this bike and would buy a new one if still available i can find nothing new that matches its specs. I would like to restore it but don't want to replace the chainwheel block chain on a yearly basis. any suggestions ?

I believe a cassette type bottom bracket type is available that tightens to itself not using the internal thread can anyone give me information about these.

There is a 25" Raleigh Royal for sale on ebay - it's got about 1.5 days to go. I think it's up to about £175 but hasn't reached it's reserve yet. It includes a MAG 500 turbo trainer. Only problem is it's in Kent!
