Lace toungue in place?
View Full Version : Lace toungue in place?
I just bought a pair of "cross training" shoes with a slit in the tongue through which the laces can
be run. I assume this is done to keep the tongue from sliding down.
I have not had a tongue-sliding problem and find it harder to tighten the laces when they are put
through the tongue -- so I am inclined not to use the slit.
What are the pros and cons of this feature? Under what circumstances do tongues slide down?
Also, what is the proper name for this feature? Tongue holder? Tongue retainer? Tongue supporter?

I refuse to buy a pair of shoes without this feature. I think it is more for keeping the tongue from
sliding to one side, and exposing your foot to the bare laces, at least that's what happens to my
feet in shoes without it.
How do you make it through a day without getting run over by a bus? This post is so inane, I think I
popped a blood vessel in my eye when I read it. I have to re-evaluate the intellect of this group. I
think I've given you all more credit than you deserve. Christ, I never thought I'd see the day where
we need instructions for a pair of friggin shoes.

That was the purpose of his post, although we were shooting for a full-blown anuerism.
