"Woman Knocked Off Bike
A 35-year-old woman was pushed off her bike and robbed as she cycled into Norwich to buy
Christmas presents.
The victim was cycling along Marriotts Way footpath close to the junction with Hellesdon Road
between 1.30 p.m and 1.45 p.m on Thursday, November 6th. As she approached an iron bridge crossing
the river, a male teenager jumped out of nearby bushes and knocked her from her bicycle.
The offender grabbed the victim's black, leather shoulder bag and ran off towards Hellesdon Road.
The victim was left shaken and with slight injuries to her right arm.
The offender is described as white, about 15-years-old, approximately 5?" tall, wearing a black
woollen hat, blue padded jacket, dark jeans and trainers.
DC Mick Andrews, investigating the robbery, said: "Marriotts Way is popular with cyclists and
joggers and the robbery took place during daylight hours. I am asking anyone who witnessed the
incident or saw anyone hanging around the area to contact me."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Mick Andrews at Norwich CID on 01953 424242 or
Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."

What if she had? Still doesn't make theft of her handbag any less of a crime.

Phew! Read the header and the posters name and assumed it was a first hand report on a paving slab
attack ;-)

I know I shouldn't but I'm sorry...can't...resist..... Should be easy to find the perp at only 5"
tall !!....mind you I suppose he could hide under almost anything...could be difficult.....
But seriously, hope they catch him and dole out suitable punishment (but doubt it somehow
:-( ) Dave.

It would probably still say "buying Christmas presents". It was the journalists attempt to put some
human interest into the story, and make it look like he'd done some research, instead of just
reading the crime sheets. She's the Good Guy, and the robber is the Bad Guy - no need to worry about
grey areas in such a simple story!

She's hardly likely to tell the police "I was off to vandalise a phone box but was mugged
on the way".

Not IME - the odd dogwalker at the Costessey end, but a few times I've done the whole
Norwich-Taverham stretch during the daytime without seeing anyone. Also, it's well away from any
buildings, homes or the road & is quite tree-lined at that section. As such, I don't share the DC's
hope that there was bound to be a witness.
FWIW, the area it happened in doesn't strike me as a particularly 'dodgy' area (there are plenty of
those in Norwich proper, BTW).
Think the goolie treatment is appropriate as always. Probably not a cycling-specific crime though -
the little $%^& would probably have mugged a pedestrian if one of them had come along at the 'right'
moment. Best of luck to the coppers on finding the git.

They forgot to mention that the perp escaped when an associate wearing red and driving a reindeer
powered sleigh, picked him up. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances.

I don't know. US Immigration have a box you are expected to tick if you are coming to the US for
terrorist activities.
