Renting a bike in London?

Sorry if I missed earlier threads on this; I just registered. I'm heading to London (from the U.S.) in January, and I'm wondering if there are any good places to rent a bike for around town and/or maybe a brief jaunt outside the city. Thanks!

Hi, Not used them myself as I live here, but London Bicycle Tour company http://www.londonbicycle.com seem to have good rates for hourly to weekly hire.

these people are generally well regarded. At least some of their hire business is geared towards tryouts or 'bents and work bikes etc and they don't quote rates for longer hires on their site but you could drop them a line.
