Beloki a Fabulous Baker Boy?
View Full Version : Beloki a Fabulous Baker Boy?
La Marca reports Beloki going to Brioches La Boulangère. Guess that locks up a Tour slot for them.
So along with brother Gorka, here's an early look at Beloki's team for next year:
Walter Bénéteau (Fra) Franck Bouyer (Fra) Anthony Charteau (Fra) Sébastien Chavanel (Fra) Sylvain
Chavanel (Fra) Anthony Geslin (Fra) Maryan Hary (Fra) Christophe Kern (Fra) Rony Martias (Fra)
Jerome Pineau (Fra) Franck Renier (Fra) Didier Rous (Fra) Thomas Voeckler (Fra) Laurent Lefèvre
(Fra) Mickaël Pichon (Fra) Mathieu Sprick (Fra) Alexandre Naulleau (Fra)
It's a decidedly French team in every way. Wonder how Joseba will adjust?
A French team with a shot at winning the Tour, albeit with a non-French rider, should raise French
cycling spirits.

WTF? how coould these guys manage JB's salery guarentee requirements? Or did the 5 mil guarentee
only apply to Stayer? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Will be interesting to hear what Beloki's got to say on the subject. Strange and unexpected from an
apparently more francophile Joseba than most imagined. Les Brioches have some quality young guys,
plus the wily Rous. Beloki seems to think they've got what it takes to get him to Paris in yellow.

C'mon, you read the CN article, didn't you?

He's not a co-leader, he's THE leader. Besides, he's probably making good bread and he'll really be
rolling in the dough.

But can he beat Heras? With all the partying Armstrong has been doing lately, I doubt if he even
makes the team next year.
The weirdest part is that I still haven't seen any Brioches La Boulengere anywhere in France. My
wife thinks it's some kind of money laundering scheme. It wouldn't be a first in cycling either,
I suspect.
