Belleville Rendezvous
View Full Version : Belleville Rendezvous
This rather surreal french animated film with a cycling theme finally got to Dundee's arthouse a
couple of weeks ago, and I took it in on its last night yesterday.
A quick trawl with Google suggests only Arthur and Colin had really spotted it before now, or else
nobody thought to say anything or it by-passed your cinemas (or I didn't Google very well...).
Well, if you *do* have a chance to see it, hugely recommended with lots of Top Tips on training
offspring to be top road racers, massage techniques, truing wheels and the future of turbo trainers
amongst other things. Absolutely fantastic and very funny, well worth a look if you can find it.
Pete.

Saw it too, back in the summer - benefit of living in York and having a posh cinema that gets
everything with a French title. As you say it's excellent and full of top tips (careful with the
massage hints if doing the front tho) - but my all-time favourite was the get-you-home van puncture
repair involving the toffee... ...my dearly beloved nearly had to be stretchered off for emergency
treatment she laughed so much.

It's wonderful isn't it? I loved the soundtrack as well. All 30's jazz.

I liked the tadpoles! Additionally discovered there really was a large lady who played the accordian
all the way along the route of the tour. The DVD is on my shopping list.....

The flies in her teeth were yet another huge guffaw moment... Not sure 30s jazz included much use of
hoovers, but that's not a complaint about the movie!

Ah, but I don't read rec.bicycles.racing, and suspect not everyone else here does either!

No, of course not, but I thought while you went to the trouble of searching the Google archives, you
might have spotted that there are other groups besides urc ;)
Found this on another newsgroup:
According to the Christmas Radio Times, this will be on BBC2 on Christmas Day at 7:00pm (until
8:20pm). It will be repeated on BBC4 on Tuesday 30th December at 11:40pm. It will be in French with
English subtitles. 'The Old Lady and the Pigeons', a short by the same director and which was on
BBC3 (I think) last night, will also be on BBC4, at
8:30pm, on Christmas Day.
