View Full Version : Croydon YHA Group
Croydon YHA Group
As a YHA Local Group is 70 years old in 2004 and a number of events are being organised to celebrate
this. Culminating in a dinner dance in October 2004.
If there are any old members of the group out there in uk.rec.cycling please get in touch.
The Group changed it's name a few years ago and is now known as COPSE Croydon Outdoor Pursuits and
Social Events.

May I ask why you didn't consider the name Croydon Outdoor Recreational Pursuits and Social Events
more appealing :-)

Perhaps they should link up with Riders' Outdoor British Bicycling Events, Recreations and Socials
so we could have COPSE & ROBBERS ;-)

Not my responsibility and I told them at the time I could see no reason to change, I was quite happy
for it to stay as Croydon YHA Group but "they" seemed to think it would bring in more new members, I
don't think it has brought in more "hardened" youth hostel types though if you can call youth
hostelling hard these days ;-) Gone are the days of cast iron bunks and mattresses stuffed with
straw and duties, blimey those were the days!!
Now I spend all my time in hotels since getting married, my wife would not be seen dead staying in a
yoof hostel ;-)

I'd change my wife if that were the case!

After waiting fifty years for the right "girl" to come along you have to be joking Richard.
I was a confirmed bachelor, into motorcycling, ham radio, youth hostelling walking and cycling
occasionally.
