5 year old finishes second 5k race
View Full Version : 5 year old finishes second 5k race
My sons total time for this 5k race was 27.45 or 13.08 seconds slower than his previous race, or
8.56 and 8.52 mile paces. He was the only 5 year old again and thus he was the youngest competitor.
He beat 57.49% of the total entries, he beat 29.24% of the total male entries and he beat 76% of the
total female entries. With a finishing percentile of 42.51% he appears to be clearly faster than 50
percent of the population as a whole at just 5 years of age. I am still very proud!

I've got 9".
With all the people who cheered him and ask me his age I have nothing to prove. He ran did his best
in full public view. We run for the love of running and for the challenge that it offers us to
improve ourselves. We do not run to prove anything to anyone else, It's a great feeling to do
something for that reason. Better to better ones self than to beat another. "Harold Buck"

C'mon you BS artist, enoughs enough. Name a race where you ran where "thousands cheered him on" that
couldn't easily be proven on the web via public record.

And yet you're unwilling to provide details of this public event.

Well, if you have nothing to prove, why do you keep posting about it?

Thousands of gay men disagree with you.

His last race had over 400 runners and he finished 178, in the previous race there were 200 runners
and he finished 108. The race results are on the web and I choose not to make a spectacle of them
and my son. His race results and his photo are on the web, this is not by my choosing but it's the
way races are scored today, I have no say in this and do not entirely approve of such. Yet my son
deserves all the opportunity that I can offer him thus he Runs, plays Soccer, Football, Baseball,
Tennis, Karate. He might just get a javelin for Christmas. "PBS" <PhonyBS@ATT.com> wrote in message

I knew NOTHING of running and race scoring when I took my son to his first
5k. If I knew his photo would be published and his name listed via the web he might not have run.
Then however he would be the loser as he would be deprived of an opportunity. There is good and
bad in most things I guess. "Harold Buck" <no_one_knows@attbi.com> wrote in message

Oh my, did you name him Frasier too? Does he leap tall buildings in a single bound? Bend steel with
his bare hands? Fart lightning bolts to kill the english? Oops sorry, that was Braveheart. Of course
if any of your crap were true we'd of all heard about this new bionic wonderboy, but of course no
one has except your vivid imagination.

Well, its been a while since I've posted so, here are my 2 cents worth (that's 2 cents canadian, or
1.53 cents in US $$)
True or not I don't know. I will say that I am a Doubting Thomas on this. However...
2003 St. Ann 5k run, Bartlett Tenn., 7 year old Joseph Pearlman ran 24:00 minutes and finished 29th
out of 182 runners. Granted it wasn't a powerfull field for him to finish 29th in, but WOW! 24:00
minutes for a seven year old!!! Results of that race are linked below.
http://www.stannbartlett.org/special/5krun/20035krunresults.html
Even more impressive are these two kids listed on RunningUSA.org...however, it always seems that
these "wonderkids" in whatever sport only ever seem to have their glory days as wonderkids, and
never amount to much more (athletically anyhow).
AGE DOB TIME RACE DATE 3 3/20/91 25:13 09/03/94 Job Christiansen 4 5/9/89 22:34 07/14/93 Jake
Christiansen 5 5/9/89 22:00 04/29/95 6 5/9/89 20:49 03/16/96 7 3/20/91 18:42 09/07/98
With a little digging, you can find results for what appears to be a family of running kids: Job,
Jed, Jake, Jesi, Jeni, and Jaci(y?).
On the flip side, Warren Utes holds (held?) 12 age group records starting at age 68, and at age 81
ran 21:59. Now that's impressive!

Bulls*&t. Posting photos of five year old boys and their names is a big no no. At least in Europe
anyways. I don't think it legal. I suppose if what you say is true, there are probably a rake of
dirty old man whacking off to the pictures of your son.

If it's 2 cents in CDN funds, you owe us a buck.
