I never run with music when I am training. A couple of years ago however, I had a great experience
running the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon and finished with a personal best time of 3:45,
beating my previous personal best by about seven minutes! Race day wasn't excessively hot and the
humidity was relatively mild. It may have been the race atmosphere or just being in San Diego, but
having a new rock and roll band every mile, blasting out some rocking tunes, definitely keeps you
going especially at miles 20 and 21! San Diego was a great marathon and I recommend it to everyone!
For country music fans, I know that Nashville has a Country music marathon based on the same idea
as San Diego's.
