Scalpel '02 team -weight ?!
View Full Version : Scalpel '02 team -weight ?!
Wherever I looked - I was inable to find the weight of the bike.
Any idea ?!
Thanks,
have a safe ride.
The 2002 Scalpel frame (unsure of size) is about 2320 grams. I guess you can look at the rest of the component spec list
http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/02/cusa/model-2VP4.html
and add up the weights of each component.
If you cannot find the weight info for some reason or another, Cannondale Customer Service might be able to give you the required information; I once asked for the weights of two '04 models and received a detailed reply with weights and frame sizes mentioned. Don't know if they're more secretive with their high-end models.
OK, Thanks,
I did contacted them - it seems to be their policy !
saying that many other makers do not tell the real weight so
they prefer no to put it rather than not say the truth in order to "stay competitive"...
Some weights and frame sizes for comparison:

It was probably last year I read an article about a slightly tweaked Scalpel (saddle etc. replaced), Team Replica it was, weighing sub 10 kg - 9,7 or something. Should be reasonably light out of the box...

I've been looking at one of three bikes to replace my Specialized FSR for racing this upcoming season. Specialized's Epic, the Scalpel and Trek's fuel 98. The shop I was in was able to weigh the Epic (28.9 lbs.) and the Scalpel (27.9 lbs. size large with disc brakes). They didn't carry the Trek.
I hope this helps.
27.9 lbs for scalpel 4000 ( team ) ?! no way ,
it should be around 23 i guess.
