"Daredevil aims to cross the Med on flying bike

An Austrian daredevil is to attempt to fly 580 miles across the Mediterranean on a "flying bicycle".

Andi Siebenhofer, from Styria, is hoping to break a world record with his planned flight from
Kalamata in Greece to Alexandria in Egypt.

He said it took him about a year to get prepared for the venture on his "flying bicycle" which is a
bike attached to a motorised paraglider.

The flight which should takes 17 to 18 hours needs favourable winds from the North-West to be
successful.

Story filed: 13:40 Friday 5th December 2003"

I can't see that the bike' has got any connection here really to what he is doing - other than it
will be flying with him - it's not contributing to the flight in anyway.

He might have well have made the journey with a flying kitchen sink
:-)
