How to stop jersey pocket sag?
I wear a L size jersey, when the pockets are empty the jersey fits perfectly and the bottom of the jersey sits well above my butt. However when I load the pockeys with a mobile phone, spare tube, food etc the back of the jersey sags right down onto my butt.
I've tried rolling the bottom of the jersey up a few times, it works OK until about 2 mins into the ride until I go over a bump or out of the saddle and unravels itself. I tried using a safety pin at the back to hold it up but all that happens is the safety pin flips out so you can see it at the back and it looks a bit stupid.
Has anyone else solved this problem with their jerseys to stop them from sagging when loaded with stuff? I like the feeling of the bottom of the back of the jersey up high, not around my butt sagging around.
Hmmm... interesting question. Some of your problem, of course, is due to cut; some jerseys are cut lower than others.
The funny thing is that most people have the opposite issue. Jerseys are often taylored to do just that -- to hang down over your butt a bit -- because a typical riding position sees you hunched way over, which contributes to the jersey inching up your butt, your back, and so on.
Personally, I'm always pulling my jersey down for that very reason. Maybe you, on the other hand, should shop around for a manufacturer that taylors their tops a bit higher. Could be as simple as that.
Get either a small wedge bag that attaches under your saddle for the heaviest of what you're putting in your back pockets, or get a BentoBox that attaches to your top tube & stem - that's where I put my cellphone & energy bars when I ride.
If you take weight out of those pockets, the sagging should stop.
