View Full Version : Wheel rebuild in the SF East Bay area
I've got a wheel built by Colorado Cyclist a few years back. The rim, a Mavic Reflex SUP, has
failed, but the Dura Ace hub is perfectly fine. I'd like a recommendation for a shop in the SF Easy
Bay that will build a high quality wheel. In years past I would have used Wheelsmith, but they are
no longer.
Thanks!

Why not just get a rim and build it yourself? Its not rocket science.

It does take care, skill, and touch though. When I was doing one of the motorcycle factory training
schools one of the things they suggested was to build bicycle wheels as they are much more
sensitive and demanding to get true and tensioned properly. Bill C
Try Velo Sport in Berkeley. They built a set of 'cross wheels for me 4-5 years ago and they have
only required minor truing.

Now that I no longer ride motorcycles, I receive this news with mixed emotions.

You should take it to what use to be "Wheelsmith". "Mikes Bikes". The best mechanic from the
Wheelsmith shop is still working there, Kenny.
Miller
Robinson Wheel Works in San Leandro. They're very good.
