View Full Version : Running in Indianapolis

I will be heading to Indianapolis later this year and am wondering what it is like for running?
I'll be there August/September/October. Any ideas on where I should go and what I should do when
I'm not running?

Where are you going to be staying? The canal/zoo/whiteriver park area is great if you are down
town. Fort Harrison has good running on the east side, Eagle Creek Park has good running on the
north side.

As far as when you are not running.... you can figure that one out. There are an incredible number
of things to do. Heck, it looks like you could go to both the Nascar race and the Formula 1 race
during that time.

There is also a great urban trail that stretches for quite a few miles.

He'll not make the US Grand Prix. They've moved that race up to June 20 for 2004. He may make the
Brickyard 400...that one is in early August. The only downside to attending the Brickyard 400 is the
mandatory tooth extraction at the gate.

My suggestion would be to divide your time between training, and drinking beer at the Broadripple
Brewpub. But that's just me.

Excellent, thanks very much for that. I'm going to visit a friend who is at Butler University so
I'll be staying around that area.

Oops...I forgot about that date change. By the way, they give you a fifth of JD for the tooth
extraction now...not to mention

(goes well with the Jack Daniels).

You will have excellent access to the trail along the old canal. Your friend can point the way.
SPend lots of money, we are a billion in the hole.

Sounds good, what is Bob Kennedy's running store like? I hear that's in Indianapolis.

I've not been there. I usually go to Carmel (on the northside of Indy) to a different place.
