Feel free to submit any comments/additions.

I've included a "survey" of some of the posters here. So far, I've linked to usenet posts. If you'd
like to write a short article for the page instead (with a 1 paragraph summary), I can put that
there. Any additional reviews welcome. Please include URLs where possible.

Cheers,

solid good stuff and thanks for the mention. Yup....I buy 2 dozen or so $4 thermal tops and just
layer....and maybe pop a shell over it. one thing i did not see that i feel is worth noting in
buying gear is the "maintenance" associated w/the garmet. One reason I go simply cheap thermals and
buy a ton is that I might wear one or two (2 layers)....work up a sweat despite how cold it
is....and dump the shirts in the hamper. Simple enough. I spend no time caring for a garmet after
returning home and showering. At the end of the week or so....I might have a hamper full of a dozen
or thermal tops..absorbed into my usual laundry washing for that week.

i wonder want maintenance "time investment" is like with daily use of some of these nicer running
tops and jackets. do you get 4 -5 runs in between washings? I like wearing fresh fresh gear
daily....and i don't want to spend 5 or 10 minutes hand washing a garmet for example...and hang to
dry....to prep to wear the next day. might be simply for you...but i'm always on the go....and
disrobing and dumping all the clothing in a hamper and moving to the next thing is how i like to
manage things. in otherwords i treat my winter running gear like i do a pair of socks. 1 time use,
into the hamper, new fresh stuff the next day. i factor this into the equation when i think about
running gear.....maintenance (time, and actual costs, i.e. dry cleaning, etc.).

also, i think rrs is worth a mention as an on-line source to the newbie....but you gotta point them
to the clearance section and the always on-line somewhere coupons. their clearance section combined
w/usual coupons offers some nice values in winter running gear. right now for examle the Nike Therma-
Fit Stretch Fleece Crew is a nice nice top that you can land w/coupons, etc. for about $20 +
shipping and it's worthwhile to for the newbie to see there are $200 running jackets...ouch.

It's interseting that this approach works, because these tops don't wick at all. I suppose they work
primarily because they are very breathable so they don't get wet in the first place. I'm surprised
that you can put a shell over them and not get drenched though.

Yes, but the calculation works differently for different people. Going to the laundry is a pain in
the butt for me. Note that I already do address this issue on the page though.

I can get by airing them out every other time, and then alternately washing/rinsing.

Doesn't take that long. Every other run, I just hang them up (helps air them up) before I take a
shower. Every second run, they get washed.

In my case, I dump them in a bucket of (sometimes) water (I already have the water running anyway,
because I take a shower), then hang them up either after I get out of the shower or before bed. If
I'm just rinsing them, it's very quick.

Hmmmmmm ... I suppose so. I think their apparel line is pretty weak actually though. They also screw
you on shipping: suppose you get ``20% off'' a $60- top. Great deal huh ? Too bad their shipping
charge is going to eat 3/4 of that ``discount''. They've crowded out most of the good stuff so they
can sell their store brand. I've added the link anyway.

I liked this block of text enough to quote in verbatim on the page, to present it as an alternative
to my point of view (since the point of the page is to present the experiences of different people,
not just me). Hope you don't mind.
