Running Shoes - Material Used in Soles

View Full Version : Running Shoes - Material Used in Soles

Hi, I bought a pair of running shoes, and it's not working out for running in- place indoors. It
appears the problem is that the soles (in the ball of the feet) are not flexible. They don't bend
with my feet. Stiff soles are undoubtedly great for outdoor running, but they're a killer for
running in- place So I'm wondering if there are different materials used in the soles of running
shoes, and which are considered the most "flexible". Thanks.

You want a flexible pair or shoes to run in? Try NB RC150. You can tie them in a knot right out of
the box. Well I'm exaggerating, but yeah, they are like slippers with a bit of a tread. Nice to race
short distances in, too.

cheers,

I'm going to the sports store today, so I'll be sure to check them out. Thanks!

Try this: To increase flexibility use a razor blade and make a cut across the width of the sole.

The shoe was discontinued in October. Yup....after an eterninity for the lifespan of running
shoes....NB finally put this classic to bed. It's gonna be tough to find some 150s and the 150
wearers I know that bumbed up to the 240 never liked them like 150s. Keep and eye on
Newbalancewebexpress.com, next week you'll see 550s there for $59 (they are not on the site now
however will be in a week).

But honestly...for this person you're advising....and everything he's said....I say a pair of Nike
Air Streaks for $39 @ footlocker.com are perfect. I'm not looking to get into a Nike fight fest but
this is a legit flat..and extremely flexible in the forefoot.
