I just bought this trainer and was astonished that after shelling out over £400, I have a load of nuts & bolts in bags - in order for me to assemble the thing myself!!!

Has anyone set the thing up for 700c wheels? My understanding is that a 700c wheel (without tyre) is 622mm.

The instructions tell me that if the 'wheel diameter' is not between 630mm and 690mm, then I need to use the extension pieces (supplied).

So my problem is this - does 'wheel diameter' mean with or without tyre?

You don't need any of the extension pieces on a 700C wheel, just bolt the resistance unit straight to the frame took me a while to figure this one out myself.

With trainers as with computers, this just about always means with tires installed. The assumption is that your total rim-plus-inflated-tire width will fall between 630mm and 690mm, which it should.

If it doesn't, then it's time to panic. :)

All 700c rims should, in theory, be of the same width (ie, no range required), and I think you're right: that figure is about 622mm.

Thanks for that - I have now got the i-Magic up and running - did the killer-loop last night in 22 mins (with a crash!) so really pleased with it. Graphics/environ could be better though! But feedback via usb is great and no wind-resistance required so much quiter and less vibration!

Happy Riding,

Col.
