Water behind the ear

View Full Version : Water behind the ear

I began feeling a muffled sensation in both my ears 2 days ago. Concerned me and I seen my MD. He
told me there is water behind my ears in the Eustachian tubes. Prescribed me a decongestant and one
day later is clearing. The Doc couldn't specify WHY.

Does anyone have ideas of why water builds up in the tubes?

Thanks,

JM

Most commonly viral infections or allergies.

The eustachian tubes plug via congestion, the same congestion that plugs your nose and nasal
sinuses. Probably you didn't have true fluid, unless you are less than five years of age. In
addition to decongestants, deep breathing helps. Learning the Valsalva maneuver will help in true
cases. Exercise helps.
