View Full Version : USPS new team members.
US Postal seems to laying the ground for a new generation of riders. US Postal's contract is up this
year so the question is who can lead the team if Lance loses and or decides to retire this year.
I was suprised to see that US postal signed up riders so late last year. It was also suprising that
US Postal did not have a clause in their contract to protect themselves Hera's sudden departure.
Probably the smart thing to do would be to have penalty clause if a rider does not give at least 6
or 7 months notice.
On the otherhand Lance is probably well protected with with the addition of Jose Azevedo.

Uhh, they did have a million dollar contract buyout.

For my money I think that Azevedo is FAR superior to Heras. Heras is only effective on very steep
climbs whereas Jose is an actual Tour threat. In fact, I think that he'll be the co-leader in la
Vuelta with Beltran.
You said, "members".

That's true, but that refers to a another team buying out his contract. What I am referring to is a
prior notification penalty clause.

You answered their own question. The contract is up this year--there will be no team.

Uhhh...they do. That's what a buyout clause is.

Interesting given that LANCE has said he's not closed to the idea of racing the TdF in '05.
