They just don't make 'em like this anymore, his retirement
in many ways signals the end of an era.
I personally consider it a privilege that I got to witness
firsthand his awesome 2002 Paris-Roubaix victory and that
I've met and spoke to him three times (albeit briefly).
Always, he was cordial and unassuming. What a phenomenal
talent. They should name a beer after him- Hard Man Trippel!
Most appropriately drunk out of a stone mug, of course.
