Hello all, I am a newbie - last time I had a bike that I rode was while I was an undergrad - some nine years ago! Then it was a Southern Cross or somethng - I had it since grade 11 highschool. It was highly impressive (to me and myfriends) when I first got it. 18 speed Shimano SIS drivetrain, cantilever brakes, allow wheels. Very neat... but it was never that good even when new. Now, well in a few days, I am getting a brand new Specialized Hardrock Sport! .... I know that this is the second cheapest bike that Specialized offers, therefore it is entry level, but man I cannot wait! During test riding it was light years away from what I remember of my Southern Cross - and that is my benchmark. Sure, once I get some experience and get finicky, I will start upgrading everything on it, but that is part of the fun as well... I'll let you know how I go. PS: anyone from lower north shore of Sydney here? Any good beginner rides in Lane Cove area? Victor |

Yeh buddy I wouldn't consider upgrading it ay any stage, its not worth it, just by a new bike after 6-12 months and maintain the Hardrock under the warranty, then get rid of it just before the service warranty runs out.
