And you need to talk to Dawn Champion of the famous head on with honda
of freeway video.

That's amazing Dutchy!! Glad to hear you got out of it ok. Can we see the
polar HRM graph please? Maybe they were really from the AIS and it's a truer
way of doing a stress test? Hang on wasn't there something dodgy in the
boot? The plot thickens....

Apparently their boot contained all kinds of 'stuff'
.....that was as fast paced and descriptive as Kramer's "pinky toe" rescue story in that Seinfield episode. Like George said to Kramer then, Dutchy " ........you're batman!"

WOW! Now that is an eventful ride home!!! (!) Hopefully they had quite a lot of 'stuff' in the boot that might keep them off the streets for a while.

Dutchmiester,
That effort deserves to be published! Send it to Bicycling Australia, you may just win some cheap pedals or something of the like...

Default Bloody

Ian got cleaned up today. At the corner of Burnley and Clarke (I
think... where the goat is anyway) st Richmond. He was heading south at
about 7pm on his way home. The other party heading north turned up clark
at the last possible second. Ian thinks he never touched the brake.
Call it a 35 kph bingle.

He is basically OK. Going to be really really sore in the morning. The
cenelli might be a write off. THe front rim is gone.. I dont think I
would trust the forks. The bars and the right shifter is mashed. We
will find out about the rest when we get it looked at I guess.

Other partys first words were "You should have had your lights on" Yeah
rigggghhhht. Luckily Ian has witnesses. The lights were still on
while it was lying on the road mind you.

When I turned up to rescue him Ian had a half dozen asian admirers all
happily taking his picture. I suspect he wont be going to work
tomorrow tho. Will let you know more as I find it out.

They obviously don't work for the City of Whitehorse. Hereabouts the traffic
engineers try to slow down motor vehicle traffic by *narrowing the bike
lanes*!! (Damn bike lanes are not legal lanes anyhow - no 'bike lane'
signs).

What's that - about 2 cm per line at 5 metres? Yep, it doesn't sound good,
but the human tendency to average out moving pictures may help. You have
probably noticed how TV is bearable despite its low resolution. It is a bit
like collecting noisy data (say a D/A conversion, if you're that way
inclined) over a length of time, which allows you to increase the precision
through integration. In other words, for a slowly moving picture, the
pixel will not be purely on or off, but will average out to some
other 'blurred' value, and a relatively slow motion of the camera or object
can help to fill in the missing pixels. It doesn't work for fast action
though. :-(

But that's all old technology. Ordinary digital cameras can often do better
than low resolution video these days, so I wonder if anyone here has had
success with video from a camera secured to the handlebars?

Cheers,

Vince

Fantastic outcome. Hopefully they won't have any licences after being
brought to justice, and so will have their behaviour curtailed a little.
Is it worth asking the police to stop these guys from being in the vicinity
of your normal bike route?

Cheers,

Vince

It wouldn't take much money, just the political will and a few 'minor'
changes to road rules, such as giving bicycles the right of way over
motorised vehicles on ordinary roads.

Did I really say that? It must be time for bed.

Cheers

Vince
